PITTSFIELD — Gladys Gabriel Gregory, 97 yrs. old of Pittsfield, passed away on October 2, 2012, at her home.
She was born on May 10, 1915 in Liberty, the daughter of Milton and May (Hasbrouck) Gabriel. Her childhood was spent in Liberty where she was a graduate of Liberty High School. She also attended the Spencer Business School.
On September 10, 1936 she married Brittain C. Gregory, who predeceased her in May, 1998.
Gladys was a clerk and cashier at the Victory Markets of New Berlin, the Pittsfield Town Clerk and Tax Collector and a waitress at the Eagle Hotel in New Berlin. She was also the chairman of the Otsego Republican Party Club.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Rodger & Eugenia Gregory of Mt. Airy, MD and grandchildren – Eric B. Gregory, Elaine Stephens and Marsha Lounsbury as well as five Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren and her beloved "Damn Cat".
Gladys was predeceased by her son; David B. Gregory, grandson; Benjamin Gregory and brother; Horton Gabriel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012, 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin with Reverend Amy Gregory of the United Methodist Church of Greene, officiating.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Catskill Area Hospice.
